Cases of blackmailers laying honey traps and also hacking private images and videos are on the rise in Delhi, a Mail Today investigation has revealed. Cyber scammers have made fake profiles on various social media platforms, dating sites and chatting apps to lure potential victims, police sources have confirmed. This epidemic of sextortion has also rattled the National Capital at a time much of the flesh trade has gone digital amid a rising Covid-19 scare. Sextortion is extorting money or sexual favours from people by threatening to reveal evidence of their sexual activity. The police have received multiple complaints about businessmen being blackmailed after they had intimate video chats with partners or escort girls. Investigators also point towards a nexus between flesh traders and hackers.
